Rare actinomycetes are well known for their production of various secondary metabolites and are an excellent source for the generation of therapeutically important products.

In collaboration with David Frasson at the University of Applied Science (ZHAW), over 500 strains of actinomycetes have been isolated in Switzerland, characterized taxonomically, and are available as screening panels to investigate their biosynthetic potential. Since these strains are Nagoya Protocol conform and the legal situation is clear, it is an easy and straightforward way to license single strains after finding promising hits.
